Helen was recently cast as the understudy for the role of Christmas Eve in Avenue Q, a Tony-award winning musical with music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx and book by Jeff Whitty. This hilarious and high-energy show will be performed at the Oklahoma City Civic Center's Freede Little Theatre next year in February. It will be directed by Shawn Churchman and music-directed by Mary Brozina Wierick. Helen is extremely excited to start rehearsals for the musical in January, as this is her first professional and equity production. She is very grateful for this opportunity to work with CityRep Theatre.
Here is a more detailed description of the show:
Winner of the TONY® “TRIPLE CROWN” for BEST MUSICAL, BEST SCORE and BEST BOOK, AVENUE Q is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart. AVENUE Q is a laugh-out-loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. There, he meets Kate (the girl next door), Rod (the Republican), Trekkie (the internet sexpert), Lucy The Slut (need we say more?), and other colorful types who help Princeton finally discover his purpose in life! Leave the kids at home and come to laugh out loud at this “R” rated Broadway sensation!
